Steven Kenney

Steven Kenney is an internationally recognized expert practitioner in strategic foresight and strategy. For more than thirty years he has advised government, corporate, and non-profit organizations on how to create their future. He has led foresight and strategy advisory engagements for the top executives in General Dynamics, Boeing, CSX Transportation, Bayer, Heinz, and CIT Group among other leading private sector corporations. He has also led engagements for top-level officials in dozens of U.S. and other nations’ defense, intelligence, and civil government agencies, including for the head of the U.S. Navy’s global healthcare enterprise, the Secretary and Undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the heads of EPA, NASA, and FDA among other civil government agencies.
Steven’s work helps client organizations and their leadership teams define their direction and adapt their plans, people, and processes to achieve their greatest success. In 2016 he founded Foresight Vector LLC, an agency providing specialized advisory services in strategic foresight, strategy development and implementation, change management, organizational culture, and leader development. From early 2020 until January 2025 he also served as the founding director of the Strategic Foresight Initiative program at The Middle East Institute (MEI), a leading Washington DC-based think tank. In that role, he designed and led “megatrend” and alternative futures studies for the United Nations and other clients as well as internal MEI futures efforts.
Steven is currently an advisory board member to the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), supporting the development and execution of the Dubai Future Forum, the annual “world’s largest gathering of futurists.” As the founder and principal of Foresight Vector he is also a member of the Global Futures Society, a consortium of more than 90 leading foresight institutions, organizations, and experts across 33 countries, established by DFF in 2023.
Prior to his current ventures and roles, Steven was a Partner in Toffler Associates, the executive advisory firm founded by world-renowned futurist Alvin Toffler, with whom he worked for more than 15 years. He was also a Vice President at Monitor 360, formed from Global Business Network, the scenario-development and strategy firm of Peter Schwartz (author of The Art of the Long View).
Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California and a Master’s degree from Columbia University, and attended Executive Education programs at Harvard Business School and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
