FAQ

1. What is MAPP?
The Management through Applied Planning Process® (MAPP) is a step-by-step methodology developed by LBL Strategies, Ltd. over the past 20 years. The value of MAPP® lies in its proven ability to help organizations assess the world around them, define where they should focus their efforts and limited resources to succeed, and put in place a concrete plan to achieve their vision. The MAPP® methodology is a practical “learn by doing” planning discipline that continues to be taught in graduate schools of business at leading universities in the Chicago land area.

2. How can LBL Strategies help me focus, make knowledge-driven decisions and grow?
Today, we as individuals and organizations have a staggering array of choice. These choices can present great opportunity and confusion, even paralysis in decision-making. The choices we make can have a great impact on our success or failure. A strategic plan provides a process, based on observation, information, measurable analysis and reflection to guide us in managing all these choices and in achieving our goals. Many organizations are developed and operate based on what its leaders and members have learned and done elsewhere. Yet, these observed and learned processes may not be the best to serve the interests of the current organization. The MAPP® process asks…Where do we want to be as an organization and how would it look?  What is our vision of where we want to be? What is the best expression of what we do as an organization, what we are here to do, to guide us in achieving our vision? What is happening in the marketplace that affects us? What are our strengths? What do our customers really care about? What do they value about us? What sets us apart from others in the marketplace? Given our goals, our customers’ concerns, and what else is happening in the marketplace, how do we best allocate our resources? What do we need to do to reach our goals? This process provides a logic, detailed information, and processes to guide the leadership team in making sound decisions that promote organizational growth and success.

3. How do I know if I need LBL Strategies help?

We recommend that you begin by taking our online organizational survey. It’s free and completely confidential. Click on the organizational assessment survey link on our home page. We will review your input and provide you with an assessment within five working days.

4. Who should be involved in developing a strategic plan?
The process of strategic planning is a management process that influences organizations in a radical way. Working on a strategic plan involves an organization’s strategic key issues, such as its vision, mission, goals, improvement plans and growth projects. Therefore, a strategic planning team should involve an organization’s key players including executive management, members of its leadership team / board of directors, administrators and representatives from the functional and front-line areas of the organization. Customers and vendors should provide fundamental input and feedback into the process. If the organization is part of a strategic alliance, collaborative partners should be involved in the strategic planning process.
